About Us
Our Founder, Bernt Gilbertson, arrived on St Joseph Island from Norway as a young boy. Bernt married a local girl, Rose Hawdon, and together they built a life and raised a family.
In 1936 Bernt decided to try his hand at producing Maple Syrup. It wasn’t long until he saw an opportunity to expand and market his product. Thus began what is today, Gilbertson’s Maple Products.

We welcome you to come and enjoy a meal of “Fresh-of- the-grill pancakes, French Toast or, our Norwegian Style pancakes with all the fixings…a traditional Springtime experience!
A Unique Experience
Visit St. Joseph Island to purchase our quality Maple Syrup and products. On your scenic drive, you may see deer and wildlife. Enjoy a walk along a trail through the sugar bush and a Northern sunset.
